Mineral County offers a local program coordinator for the San Luis Valley Area Extension Office of Colorado State University. Extension provides programs in 4-H Youth Development, Family & Health, Nutrition, and Agriculture & Range.

Mineral County currently has an active 4-H club for kids aged 8-18 where youth can learn practical skills through projects like livestock, robotics, sewing, shooting sports, photography, computers, leathercraft, outdoor adventure and many more. 4-H empowers youth to learn by doing while having fun and serving the community. Extension programs are available to all without discrimination.
