April 20 Meeting Recap

Mineral County Board of County Commissioners held their regularly scheduled mid-month meeting on Tueasdy, April 20, 2021.  Items discussed at the meeting included many housekeeping affairs that included:

  • Getting the Airport Vehicle painted - voted to have work done at Stanek Auto in Monte Vista, lowest bid
  • Discussed the possibiliyt of guardrails on the Creede Mesa Estates Drive - Commissioners agreed that more input was needed from more residents than one homeowner
  • Voted to adopt procedures allowing the use of a signature stamp for the Commissioners under very strict, rare conditions
  • Decided to take the lead on funding and coordinating the Colorado County Coalition for the next 3-5 years - Coalition is engaged in keeping the Rio Grande Cutthroat Trout off of the threatened and endangered species list and working on a variety of conservation efforts that assures a continued growing population
  • Reviewed the text of a Quit Claim Deed for property on the north boundary of the airport being donated by Navajo Development
  • Reviewed resumes and discussed interviews with two candidates for a two year paid internship through the Department of Local Affairs

Heard quarterly updates from Kathleen Murphy from the Creede Chamber of Commerce, Tary Hard, Silverthread Public Health Director and Lory Dooley, Mineral County Dental Clinic and Jason Tillman from the San Luis Valley Fair Board.

There was a Public Hearing held at 10:30 on Tuesday morning to consider the recommendation to change some verbiage in the Zoning Regulations.  The Commissioners voted to take the recommendation for approval of said changes.  Details can be viewed at the Administrator's Office in the Mineral County Courthouse.
