August 2 Meeting Recap

The Mineral County Board of County Commissioners met in their regular monthly meeting on August 2, 2021.  Key items that were discussed included:

  • A report from Road and Bridge Supervisor, Dannie Rogers, on the roads.  Upcoming projects include helping Forest Service crews with gravel on Pool Table Rd and replacing culverts near Moonshine Mesa.
  • Silverthread Public Health Director, Tara Hardy, reported on current COVID19 case counts and answered questions about the DELTA variant and testing
  • Emergency Manager, Terry Wetherill reported on the recent slides on Hwy 149 between Creede and South Fork and talked about the continued efforts to imporve the Active 911 system for first reposnders in Mineral County
  • A virtual meeting was held with representatives from the EPA, CDPHE, the Colorado AG's office and legal counsel for the Poxon family regarding the Commodore and Del Monte properties that the County will possibly obtain from the Poxon family through negotiations with EPA and CDPHE.
