The Mineral County Board of County Commissioners held their regularly scheduled monthly meeting on Monday May 3 at the Mineral County Courhtouse.  Highlights of the meeting include:

  • Cathy Garcia from Congresswoman Lauren Boebert's office introduced herself and introduced some fot he Congresswoman's priorities
  • The Board of Commissioners boted to lease a new 2021 grader and extend the lease on the 2016 grader they currently own - new grader due to arrive in September
  • Public Health Director, Tara Hardy, gave an update on active cases of COVID!( in the San Luis Valley and in Mineral County
  • Emergency Manager, Terry Wetherill, gave an update on the baby wipes that have been set to the state by the Federal Government - Mineral County will procure some of these and keep them in storage until a need arises for them
  • The BOCC voted to hire two new employees - Richard Kolisch as a backup equipment operator at the landvill and Ken Hosselkus as the new VSO
  • Commissioner Albright discussed ongoing conversations with Brent Woodard the shooting club at the school to provide an area to allow the club to use the landfill property for practice and potential meets.  Commissioner Albright also took on the job of replacing the defective window in the doctor's office at the Clinic
  • Commissioner Weber reported on the ongoing legislation that is being monitored by CCI
  • County Attorney, Randy Nicholson, presented easement deed that allow utility easements across Airport property to Navajo Development.  The BOCC voted to sign the deeds.
